RV Home Tour - 2014 Phaeton 40 QBH
We take you on a tour of our "new to us" 2014 Tiffin Phaeton motor home. We've had this rig since November 2014 and are still getting settled into it. It is mostly an upgrade from our previous 2007 Monaco Knight, which was also a 40 foot unit. Three of the four slides are larger so there is slightly more interior space in the same size.
One design problem is the way Tiffin installed the Freightliner dash system. The steering wheel effectively blocks the view of the "light bar" area of the dash where the odometer and various courtesy information lights are displayed. It's not a game changer, but reflects an example of something that I am sure looked good on a computer design screen but is a real failure when viewed in the real world.
The other thing we aren't too thrilled with is the installation of a very large TV in the bedroom. When comparing with the 2013 version of this coach, there was more storage space in the bedroom which was sacrificed for the large TV screen. This might have been a good decision for some users, but as full timers, we would rather have had the extra storage and a smaller TV.
Those issues aside, we have been happy with our choice and are enjoying getting used to the new layout. We still sometimes look for something where it was in the old coach forgetting things have been moved in this one.
