Fort Richardson State Historical Park
We visited this state park, near Jacksboro TX was a key post in the string of forts from Oklahoma to west Texas after the Civil War to protect the new settlers moving into the region. At the time, it was the largest Army base within the Country. It was only active for about 10 years and then again for a brief period during World War II.
