Breach of security questions over Michael Matheson's kids using his iPad

After an emotional statement by Health Secretary Michael Matheson who apologised for incurring £11,000 iPad bill, he was questioned by Meghan Gallacher.

Mr Matheson confirmed costs were incurred by his teenage sons watching football games, he said: “As a parent, I wanted to protect them from being part of the political and media scrutiny associated with this, something I believe any parent would want to do."

Scottish Conservative deputy leader Meghan Gallacher said if the password for the iPad had been shared this could have been a breach of GDPR.

Mr Matheson told her he had been advised that he could use the iPad for hotspotting purposes, saying: “My son – I had used a hotspot before – helped to facilitate that provision.

“That is how they have been able to access the data provided within the iPad during the course of our holiday period.”
