10 Push Up Variations You Should Try

In this video I show my 10 favorite push up variations that I recommend to beginners who want to branch out beyond the basic push up. I suggest you start trying different types of push ups after you can do 10 slow, controlled reps with decent form. I know a lot of people (including myself) who felt it necessary to take their push ups to high levels of endurance, like 30+ reps. And that's fine to do, if you want. But I've seen far more benefit from changing variations to increase intensity and build strength.

The 10 different kinds of push ups I show in this video:
1. Wide grip

4. Decline
5. Pike
6. Staggered
7. Clap / Explosive
8. Dynamic explosives
9. Spiderman
10. Biceps push ups
