This place is so atmospheric. I can't wait to show it to you.
The year has been unique for everyone, yet I've turned a negative into a positive.
In seeking a new adventure, I've packed light and headed to Plovdiv, a small town in Bulgaria.
I'm an Australian who loves to travel.
My name is Tais.

Let us start in KAPANA, a trendy district of PLOVDIV.
It's full art studios, cafes, restaurants, and if you love street art, this is the place for you.
I wasn't sure if Plovdiv was a place to linger, so I've decided to go on a free walking tour, to help me decide if I needed to stay longer then originally planned.
The walk down Plovdiv's main street is pedestrian-only with stores and pretty buildings.
There is an elongated oval-shaped Roman Stadium in the heart of downtown Plovdiv, and it's huge.

It can seat 30,000 people where the people would watch gladiators and sporting events.
Today, only one end of the stadium remains, including the main gate from where you can enter.
Unfortunately, downtown literally was built directly above this incredible stadium.
This neighbourhood is known as "the Trap."
An old town perched on a hill, its streets are cobblestone.

Houses are around 150-year-old, with uniquely decorated façades,
This yellow exterior and ornate wooden column house is ever so welcoming,
I was surprised to discover, some of them converted into boutique hotel or hostels, Had I known I'd have stayed here.
Costing as little as ten euros per person per night, including a huge breakfast.

Plovdiv's main highlights date back to Roman times, and it is nicknamed "city of hills."
It's so old here, remarkably endearing, and full of Bulgarian revival architecture.

It dates back to before Alexander the Great when his father King Phillip ruled.
Up the hill, in the old town, is a beautiful Roman Amphitheatre,
beautifully preserved and with sweeping views of the city behind.
Even today it is in use for various performances throughout the year.
Overall I found Plovdiv remarkable, its history mind-blowing,
I highly recommend Bulgaria and a visit to Plovdiv.

After years of exploring our planet for a large number of years,
I'd like to think I've learnt a few things.
The more people I meet, the more unique the experience and the more authentic.
Life is too short to be angry and annoyed
Take a deep breath and remind yourself that it could be worse, be patient, don't sweat the stuff you can't control
remember, don't listen to others that say it can't be done
Never get discouraged; nothing is impossible.
You just haven't found the best solution yet.
A word of warning first: keep your credit card handy! After watching this you’ll want to book the next flight out of here to check out this fantastic place in #bulgaria for a few days!
