This story is about Malta.
My name is Tais.
My favourite place to visit on the Island is Mdina, and I’m super excited to share with you this story. There is nothing more I love then losing yourself in this an immaculately clean sandstone maze.
So, let’s go!
As you drive through the beautiful Maltese countryside, you’ll see a walled city perched on top of a hill, standing tall above from the land below.
It is often seen glowing in the bright sunlight, this beautiful city is known as Mdina.
Mdina is known as the Silent City, due to the fact that no cars, except those that belong to a limited number of residents, have permission to enter the city.
This provides a relaxing atmosphere for the visitors walking its narrow streets and alleyways.
There are signs everywhere reminding people to keep quiet and to respect the residences, although occasionally, you will hear the trotting hooves of a horse-drawn carriage that date back to the 19th century.
Doors are painted in an array of bright colours and have unique, shiny, brass door knockers, in a multitude of shapes, such as lions or dolphins.
Tiny restaurants and cafés are tucked away in hidden locations, balconies jut from the sides of buildings, and are lined with blooming flowers and strands of ivy.
As lunch hour approaches, the smell of freshly-cooked food makes its way through the streets.
Mdina will most definitely steal your heart.
The best way to explore is to put away the map and get lost within the charming little alleyways and pass thousands of doors.
Its timeless atmosphere dating back 4000 years is fascinating, as well as its cultural and religious treasures.
This is definitely a place that will ignite your imagination as you step back in time… with its colourful doorways and picturesque streets.
My lifestyle has given me an opportunity like none other, and on my days off, I go to some of the most beautiful places.
Thanks for joining me.
Until next time
See you later
Bye!
A word of warning first: keep your credit card handy! After watching this you’ll want to book the next flight out of here to check out this fantastic place in Malta for a few days!
