Bach - Nun ist das Heil und die Kraft (Double chorus)

NUN IST DAS HEIL UND DIE KRAFT (BWV 50)

There are some speculations among musicologists, that this impressive piece may not be by Bach. John Eliot Gardiner comments as follows: "... who other than Bach amongst his German contemporaries could have come up with such an extreme compression of ideas, at the same time giving the impression of colossal spatial breadth and majesty ?". The piece is written for an unusually large orchestra, as the score involves two four-part choirs, three trumpets, timpani, three oboes, two violins, viola and basso continuo.

Nun ist das Heil und die Kraft und das Reich und die Macht unsers Gottes seines Christus worden, weil der verworfen ist, der sie verklagete Tag und Nacht vor Gott.
