Johann Ludwig Bach - Die Weisheit kömmt nicht (Rheinisches Kantorei)
Johann Ludwig Bach (1677 - 1731):
DIE WEISHEIT KÖMMT NICHT IN EINE BOSHAFTE SEELE (JLB 14)
1. movement: Chorus
This cantata was performed in Leipzig by Johann Sebastian Bach on 19 May 1726. It had been composed in Meiningen (Thüringen/Thuringia) by Johann Ludwig Bach, who was a third cousin of Johann Sebastian. The latter made copies of many of Johann Ludwig's cantatas and performed them at Leipzig in 1726.
Johann Ludwig Bach was a composer and violinist. He was born in Thal near Eisenach in Thüringen/Thuringia. At the age of 22 he moved to Meiningen eventually being appointed Cantor there, and later Kapellmeister. He wrote a large amount of music and regularly oversaw performances, both at Meiningen and neighbouring courts. But unfortunately only a relatively small part of his production has survived to this day. All his extant works demonstrate the composer's solid craftsmanship and inventive gifts.
This manuscript is the soprano part. Most often, only one copy per part was made. As there may have been 2-3 soprano voices (boys), they had to share the same copy. The various parts can be found here:
