Advancing with Watercolor: "5 O'Clock Shadow" How an Artist shapes the world
Welcome to my Studio -
Hello friends - apologies for the absence these past months. I have been working on new teaching venues through Zoom since Covid has shut down my regular venues. I hope you are all well and able to manage in these difficult times. I am continuing today with my series on Cafes here on YouTube and hope to post an entry every couple of weeks. If you need something in between I post some short videos on instagram and of course my full length videos on Zoom each and every weekend - find links below.
Beck to the business of painting with watercolor
In this video - I develop the painting "5 O'Clock Shadow" thinking about how the artist manipulates shapes and edges to make a more effective statement and a more "felt" work of art.
It is helpful to know how the visual artist looks at the world. It may seem that this does not need explanation but in truth the artist looks at the world in different ways to help them to process the complexity and arrive at a simple beginning. This is a technique like any other and the are tools and methods we use to trick the eyes to see the world in a simple fashion. These methods help the beginner as well as the mature artist.
