Advancing with Watercolor : "Meeting over Coffee" How the Artist Looks at the World
Welcome to my Studio - In this video - I develop the painting "Meeting over Coffee" while I talk about initial thoughts in composition. Selecting the paper size, thinking about a center of interest, and building the painting outward from these thoughts. I demonstrate with watercolor how to reference your center of interest and what value this has to building a sound composition around the scene of a coffee shop.
It is helpful to know how the visual artist looks at the world. It may seem that this does not need explanation but in truth the artist looks at the world in different ways to help them to process the complexity and arrive at a simple beginning. This is a technique like any other and the are tools and methods we use to trick the eyes to see the world in a simple fashion. These methods help the beginner as well as the mature artist.
