Advancing with Watercolor: Cafe Sepia - Composition
Continuing today with my series on Cafes here on YouTube - this week with thoughts on composition. In this video I demonstrate a few tips on placing your center of interest and some thoughts about building around that. The cafe is a chaotic place and my subjects don't always site in the "right" place - also they tend to get up and leave before Ive finished.
Named Cafe Sepia - well, because I am using Sepia as the only color - a practice that makes painting more interesting.
It is helpful to know how the visual artist looks at the world. It may seem that this does not need explanation but in truth the artist looks at the world in different ways to help them to process the complexity and arrive at a simple beginning. This is a technique like any other and the are tools and methods we use to trick the eyes to see the world in a simple fashion. These methods help the beginner as well as the mature artist.
