Advancing with Watercolor: "Rain. Falls, NYC"

Finding a good view in New York City is never a challenge, there are so many dramatic and interesting shapes in every direction that you look. I stayed near a historic building - the Ansonia in Verdi Square - Built in the Classic Parisian style in 1897. There was many great views - one that offered a view of the street along with some interesting public lighting, a cab or two, to make the scene more complete. These will be the characters of the painting and I will organize them around this idea of rain and how it affects the city.

The Watercolor Plan

Technically our strategy revolves around painting part of this work with very soft edges which would be in the nature of painting the city in rain. To counter this will use a few hard edges to create our focal point and make a watercolor plan based on a wet into wet approach for the buildings and the reflections..
