Cyndi Lauper - Unconditional Love, live in Japan, legendado em português, 1991

Unconditional Love was the 5th single from the album "A Night To Remember", the 3rd in the solo career of the wonderful Cyndi Lauper.
The song is one of the most beautiful romantic ballads ever recorded by Cyndi.
Unconditional Love was composed by Cyndi in partnership with the incredible Billy Steimbeg and Tom Kelly, the same who composed the anthem True Colors and several other songs in partnership with Cyndi, in addition to having composed great songs for other artists.
Originally, Cyndi composed Unconditional Love, with Billy and Tom, to serve as the theme for the film "Vibes", starring Cyndi, Jeff Goldblum, Peter Folk and Julian Sands, directed by Ken Kwapis, a great team. The film was released in 1988 and, despite great expectations, as Cyndi had released 2 mega platinum albums, Vibes did not perform well in theaters.
Anyway, the record company insisted that "Unconditional Love" would not be a good song for the film, as it was a ballad and they wanted an uptempo song, so Cyndi ended up releasing "Hole In My Heart" as the film's theme song.
Hole In My Heart, despite being much loved by fans, did not perform well commercially. Perhaps if the theme had been Unconditional Love, as Cyndi wanted, the song would have been successful and boosted the film, avoiding failure in theaters, but we will never know.
That's why Cyndi says in her autobiography "never stop doing what you feel should be done, because of pressure from other people" (not exactly those words, but it's in the autobiography, read it because it's very good!).

A música é uma das mais lindas baladas românticas já gravadas pela Cyndi.
Unconditional Love foi composta por Cyndi em parceria com os incríveis Billy Steimbeg e Tom Kelly, os mesmos que compuseram o hino True Colors e várias outras músicas em parceria com a Cyndi, além de terem composto grandes músicas para outros artistas.
Originalmente, Cyndi compôs Unconditional Love, com Billy e Tom, para servir de tema do filme "Vibes", estrelado por Cyndi, Jeff Goldblum, Peter Folk e Julian Sands, com direção de Ken Kwapis, um time de peso. De qualquer forma, a gravadora insistiu que "Unconditional Love" não seria uma boa música para o filme, por ser uma balada e eles queriam uma música agitada, então Cyndi acabou lançando "Hole In My Heart" como tema do filme.
Hole In My Heart, apesar de ser muito querida pelos fãs, não teve um bom desempenho comercial. Talvez se o tema fosse Unconditional Love, como Cyndi queria, a música tivesse feito sucesso e impulsionado o filme, evitando o fracasso nos cinemas, mas nunca saberemos.
Por isso Cyndi diz em sua autobiografia "nunca deixe de fazer aquilo que você sente que deve ser feito, por causa da pressão de outras pessoas" (não são exatamente essas palavras, mas está na autobioagrafia, leia porque é muito boa!).
