We are very happy to be starting a new series called Paribhāṣā, which will feature a series of in-depth conversations around music, musicians, musical styles and musical compositions by various scholars and practitioners. The aim of this series is to "Illustrate, Interpret and Illuminate" the various nuances of South Indian Classical Music, allowing rasikas and students to delve deep and gain new and profound vistas into this divine artform. We propose to feature episodes of Paribhāṣā on a regular basis on this channel. We begin the first episode in this series in celebration of the centenary of Nagaswaram Maestro par excellence Mahavidwan Karukurichi P Arunachalam. Today we will be featuring a very special concert by Sri Karukurichi Arunachalam that was performed at the Āḍivēl Festival in Colombo, Sri Lanka, in 1961. Carnatic Music Historian Sri Lalitharam Ramachandran will be speaking in detail about this concert, highlighting the standout "ahaa" moments that make this concert in particular, and the music of Sri Karukurichi in general, memorable. We are extremely grateful to Sri Lalitharam for providing us with this recording, and his time and patience in helping to add even greater value to this exhilarating concert. Incidentally, this concert marks the 100th upload on our channel. This concert has been digitally enhanced to give you a pristine listening experience.
