Glossary:
RNA - nucleic acid present in all living cells and many viruses; involved in protein synthesis and sometimes in the transmission of genetic information. Also called ribonucleic acid [1].
Negative single-stranded RNA virus - A type of virus with genomes that are single stranded, negative sense, and made from RNA [2].
Epithelium - Type of cell that lines the surface of the body (i.e., respiratory tract) [3]
Encephalitis - Inflammation of brain tissues caused by viral infection [4]
