The science of xenotransplantation and how it can change our world
On January 7th, 2022, the first successful xenotransplantation was performed at the University of Maryland Medical Center. By drawing on David Bennett's recent pig heart xenotransplantation, we explore the genetic modifications that made this surgery possible, explore the implications of the current surgery and how it will impact the organ transplant waiting list.
