Sex and the Military: Pornography, Affairs, and the Lack of Help
This podcast is about pornography and sexual behaviors within the military. It's a common acceptance within the military community that pornography is everywhere, but beyond using pornography we have sex shops or "rub and tugs," marital affairs, and various other sexual addictions. Pornography is no "big deal" when you're 19 or 20, but once you get married or find a stable relationship it can be a hindrance to finding a spouse and having a healthy relationship. Pornography cheats men out of healthy relationships. Pornography and sexual behaviors are often a way to fill the loneliness void, it allows for a private outlet that no one "knows about" and can be maintained behind closed doors. Bored on deployment? This is another HUGE reason for using porn, it kills time.
The sex shop outside of the military base is an open and easy way to fill the emotional void. We all want to be desired. We all want to wanted, loved, and part of an emotionally vulnerable relationship. This may not be a conscious desire but humans are meant to be in deeper relationships, without them we're left to our on demise of addiction and self-serving behavior.
