Veteran Suicide: My buddy killed himself and he had my...
Suicide is an uncomfortable topic, but it’s REALLY uncomfortable when the person who has committed suicide has something of yours you need back. Veteran suicide is especially rampant, approximately22 veterans committing suicide per day (old stats).
I gave a phonographic record that was a family heirloom to a local man who committed suicide. Now, I have no idea where it is or how to get it back.
what’s a buddy to do when your veteran friend kills himself and he has your stuff? How are you supposed to get your things back post suicide? Is it insensitive to ask? Who do you ask? And why do we feel so guilty for thinking about our needs when it comes to suicide. Would we feel guilty if it were cancer or a stroke?
Veterans may be the only folks who understand this video is not created with I’ll intent or malice, it’s a comical scenario to be in and relatable to everyday life.
Opinions on how to resolve this issue are welcome.
