MISTAKE NO 3 (EXTENDED MIX) Culture Club [a Mr David Mix]

There is no reason this song couldn't have been as big as "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me". If it had been the first single from the album instead of the third, it just might have been. But sadly, it stayed in the lower top 40 in the USA, which was worse than the equally disappointing chart placement of "The Medal Song" in the UK. It did, however, hit #10 in Canada, and was played extensively on the radio in the Philippines and Malaysia. It was not released in Europe or the UK as an A-side. The video was not shown often on MTV, but was in heavy rotation for a few weeks on the newly-created sister station, VH-1, which focused on more of an adult oriented, soft rock format which was perfect for this song.

I created this mix by separating out the various parts, then stitching them back together with special attention to the vocals and keyboards, giving it almost a stripped down feel for the first half. I wanted to start soft and build to the best hook Culture Club ever performed, the dramatic crescendo after the rest in the second half of the song.
