Crumbly Fungal Toenails: Trimming Fungal Toenails of a Diabetic Patient
A new patient with diabetes comes into the office for nail and skin care. She has had trouble managing her diabetes, and is now experiencing diabetic neuropathy in her feet. Her toenails, are thick, discolored, and crumbly, all hallmarks of onychomycosis, fungal toenails. In Part 1, the toenails are trimmed, and samples are sent to the lab for analysis.
