From being a blacksmith to creating Audi.

With a Total Equity of €28.395 billion as of 2019, Audi has always been the forerunner when it comes to luxury and prestigious car manufacturing and only a few can match the sheer brilliance with which the brand builds its cars. Owning the market for more than 100 years, the German brand knows a thing or two about using cutting-edge technology, strong design language, and luxury at its best. It just doesn’t stop with this, Audi has been successful in the racing front as well, and has an impeccable racing heritage that is known to the world.

This is the story of the founder, August Horch who was born in Winningen, Rhenish Prussia, in 1868 and was a blacksmith before studying at Hochschule Mittweida engineering.

Audi was the first German car manufacturer to present a model that was a left-handed drive - the Audi Type K, in September 1921, around the same time when the left-hand drive was introduced and established as the new norm to help get a better view of oncoming traffic.

Audi is internationally known as a prestige brand. The firm has continued to develop innovations such as diesel technology, aluminum bodies, the "Multitronic" Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), and unique SUVs.
