Alain Prost Blasts Alpine's Limelight-Seeking CEO

Towards the end of last year Alpine CEO Laurent Rossi had indicated that there will be a reshuffling of the team’s management. This seems to have begun with the exit of executive director Marcin Budkowski. The team’s non-executive director Alain Prost has also been let go since then and the former 4-time F1 world champion has now lashed out at Laurent Rossi

Prost took to his social media account to voice his displeasure at the way this news was announced

“I am very disappointed how this news has been announced. It was agreed that we would announce together with Alpine F1 Team! No respect sorry!”

“I have refused the offer made to me in Abu Dhabi for the 2022 season. Because of a personal relationship and I was right! To the Enstone and Viry team I will miss you”

He then revealed a few more details to L’Equipe

“Even as a member of the board I found out about some decisions at the last minute. You may not be listened to, but at least you should be told about it”

He signed off by levelling the blame against Alpine CEO Laurent Rossi

“It’s a question of respect. Relationships became more and more complicated, I felt there was a lot of jealousy”

“Laurent Rossi’s desire is to be alone, not to be policed by anyone. He told me himself that he didn’t need any more advisors. He wants all the limelight”

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has revealed that the “biggest change for [AlphaTauri] is obviously taking [the lastest-spec] gearbox because, usually, they are a season behind, which has helped enormously from a logistical perspective” [Racing News 365]

“This year, we’ll be providing gearboxes for both teams of identical specification. That puts pressure on them because our design release dates are usually a bit later than their own”
