Crazy Parts and Mark Foley Steel Strat Tremolo Blocks - Are They the Same?
Based on my simple measurements of string hole depth and weight, they are not the same but that could be a discrepancy between different batches. It is rumored that they are made at the same UK foundry and that could be the case, but maybe with different specs from each vendor. Either way, you can't go wrong with either one. Pick the least expensive one. They are both pretty close to $75-85 depending on the exchange rate at the time. MF is priced in British Pounds and CP is priced in Euros.
At one point, Mark Foley asked me what length block I wanted and I was puzzled because I thought he knew the specs of the vintage blocks. He said there was some variation to the length so I think I picked the longer block. My point is, I wonder if they drill the string holes first and then cut to the blocks to size and that results in slightly different hole depth. Just a thought. I would think they cut the blocks first, then drill the holes.
