Visiting the World's Most Beautiful Swimming Hole! (Slap Virje, Slovenia 4k)

We both agreed that Slovenia was the most underrated country we visited in Europe! This only makes it better because of fewer crowds, nevertheless the secrets slowly getting out so go visit it ASAP!

We rented a car in Ljubliana and drove through Lake Bled and the Julian Alps.

We accidentally lost a lot of our footage from Slovenia, but here are some reasons why we loved it:
In our opinions...Ljubliana is a near-perfect city! It's covered in street art, bustling with energy...live performers, TONS of restaurants with outdoor seating along the river, and more Gelato stands/shops than we saw anywhere else. It also has mountain views, a ton of unique landmarks and is known for having a vast amount of beekeepers in the local area leading to a lot of shops selling great honey products. A highlight for us was sitting at a park along the river on a hot day in June and putting our feet in the river along with dozens of locals.

Despite being an amazing country, perhaps it's most well-known attraction, Lake Bled, is a bit overrated in our opinions. Yes, the water and views are stunning like you might have seen in the photos, but what you don't see is the town that dead-ends on the banks of the lake, complete with very large hotels and even a casino that block some of the water access and spoil the views. And a TON of tourists everywhere (naturally), roads that are blocked off that only small tourist trains can ride up, and irritating parking. We took in the views for a bit but decided the mountains were calling.

Now for the absolute highlight of our visit to Slovenia...
The JULIAN ALPS. Unspoiled landscapes, stunning up-close mountain vistas, raging rivers with perhaps some of the bluest and clearest water in the world (lots of waterfalls!), along with adorable small towns rich with food, culture, and history. It's nothing short of a must-see amazing place, and not at all overcrowded. The winding roads that take you through the mountains even take you over the border of Italy and back into Slovenia where tiny villages cling to the mountainsides, the hardest part is not stopping at every viewpoint you see!

It's a real shame we lost a lot of the footage, but our visit to Slap Virje waterfall should be enough to show you a small part of how beautiful Slovenia is and convince you to go see the rest for yourself! ;)
