House Almost Burnt Down - Luckily Someone Was Home - 50 amp Circuit Breaker Didn’t Trip Condenser

The wiring between the outdoor condenser and the disconnect panel literally melted away and smoke got inside the house. Crazy! The wiring inside the whip DIDN'T trip the breaker!! Why not?
