Which is the the better movie?

In this episode we will be comparing the Oscar winning Thomas Harris novel adaptation The Silence of the Lambs (directed by Jonathan Demme) with its horror sequel Hannibal (directed by Ridley Scott).

Both films depict the characters of serial killer Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins) and FBI Special Agent Clarice Starling (Jodie Foster / Julianne Moore). While The Silence of the Lambs movie is widely considered to be prestige horror, after winning 5 Academy Awards, including Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Picture (The only Horror Movie to ever win an Academy Award in this category), its Hannibal movie follow up 10 years later is widely considered to be among the worst horror movie sequels. But is Hannibal truly that bad and who is the better Clarice? Well, that's what we're going to find out in this video.

With both films celebrating anniversaries this month, SOTL with its 30th anniversary, and Hannibal with its 20th anniversary, its a good time to reevaluate these horror classics. And with the CBS television series Clarice also making its debut this month as well, that puts the Thomas Harris Hannibal Lecter franchise at a span of 5 decades, with five feature films (Manhunter, The Silence of The Lambs, Hannibal, Red Dragon, Hannibal Rising) and now two shows (Hannibal the series, and now Clarice - the Silence of the Lambs tv series).
