DON'T BREATHE 2 UPDATE | Filming begins in April
After years of uncertainty, Don't Breathe (2016) is finally going ahead with a sequel. Stephen Lang reprises his role as The Blind Man, living in quiet solace ever since the home invasion of this first film, until his past sins catch up to him.
Fede Alvarez, who previously directed the original, will taking on writing and producing duties this time around, while frequent collaborator, Rodo Sayagues, will fill the director's chair. Sayagues previously worked with Alvarez as both a writer and producer of the first Don't Breathe as well as Evil Dead (2013).
The horror fandom seems to be very divided on this movie. While the original is mostly considered to be one of the best horror movies of the last 10 years, a lot of people would prefer it be left untouched, so the story can be preserved as a standalone movie. But at the same time, with it's enormous popularity, a sequel has been in high demand.
Is it possible that they took this long to getting around to making this movie because they wanted to make sure it had the best script possible? Only time will tell. Don't Breathe 2, or Don't Breathe Again (as it's rumoured to be called) will begin production this April.
How do you feel about there being a Don't Breathe sequel? Do you think that Hollywood should turn great standalone horror movies into franchises, or put their resources into making more great original ideas? Be sure to leave your thoughts and opinions in the comments below. Feel free to show some extra love by giving this video a thumbs up as well.
