Cotter family home movies - 1964

This is a collection of 8mm films shot by my parents - mostly my mother - during the summer of 1964. The highlight of each summer was our annual trek from New York to Lake Hopatcong in New Jersey. They would rent a house there for several weeks, with room enough for my grandparents and often family friends. We had a blast playing in the lake, or visiting the many small amusement parks in the area.

I think my favorite moments on this reel are my dad goofing around at the western park, or my brothers very seriously taking instructions from a talking scarecrow.

I cleaned the original films by hand, then scanned them on a frame-by-frame Moviestuff Mk II scanner. I then digitally cleaned them up, adjusting the colors, stabilizing, etc. in a variety of software packages. This is a 2K transfer; when my scanner 4K upgrade arrives I will very likely redo this project again.

It was fun reliving the days at the lake. I hope my brothers will enjoy this as well. More films to come.
