How did I get stronger by lifting light weights as a powerlifter ?
Most people tend to agree that lifting heavy is the way to go if your goal is to gain strength.
And that's absolutely true. Lifting heavy weights will allow you to have CNS adaptations, gain muscle and those factors contribute a lot to strength.
But in reality, lifting light weights can have a lot of benefits.
In my powerlifting career, I recently started to use a method I call the 'Practice Lift'. It's all about how lifting lighter weights during the same training week as heavier weights can help you get better technically and thus stronger.
Whether you want to improve your squat, your bench press or your deadlift, this method can be used on each lift. So make sure to give it a go !
