TRACTOR THERAPY : Allis Chalmers Speed Patrol Rules the Road

The vintage 1940's Allis Chalmers Speed Patrol is fired up and used to make a few passes on the half mile road bed from the black top all the way to my little old neighbor lady's property. It's a unique machine in so far as it started life at the Allis Chalmers factory as a standard farm tractor. But it's life took a change for the better as it was selected to go to another manufacturer to be fitted with the hand-wheel operated material grader. No plows, harrows or manure spreaders were in store for this old gals life from that point on. Was she babied...probably not. Did she live and easy life....probably not, but at least she led a good life preparing municipality streets for asphalt or concrete surfaces.
She was eventually purchased by (or given to) the old timer that spent a lot of his career at the operators controls and was retired to the real good life of rest and relaxation behind his house in the suburbs of the big city. That was UNTIL I came along. She has worked harder in the few years I've had her out here in the woods than she did for the previous couple of decades put together. Yes, she's a bit cantankerous and just downright ornery to operate, but that's just her feminine personality.... She does give it her all and does quite a nice job doing it and on occasion I really DO treat her to a fresh oil change and a filter. But that's about it !!
