Early Morning with Elephant Calf Khanyisa and her Companion Sheep Lammie | A 2020 Memory 🐘🐑

A flashback of Khanyisa and Lammie, back in May 2020 🐘🐑 Back then, Khanyisa was not much bigger than her friend.

Thaba-Manzi Pedi sheep like Lammie are known to be excellent surrogate mothers, as they accept any animal as their own. Lammie provided support and comfort to Khanyisa from when the orphaned calf first came to the orphanage, and she continues to do so today.

In March 2021, Nungu came to HERD to retire from her many years as a companion sheep. Lammie and Nungu quickly became good friends. During the day, when Khanyisa is off foraging with the herd, Lammie and Nungu can be seen grazing side by side.
