"Reason to Believe" (Tim Hardin) cover by Dennis Anthonis
"Reason to Believe" (written by Tim Hardin) cover by Dennis Anthonis.
I've got a couple projects in the works down here in the studio that need some finishing touches. In the meantime, I was fooling around last night and playing this, one of my favorite songs, "Reason To Believe," written by Tim Hardin and released in 1966. Dylan once said that he believed Tim Hardin was the best songwriter he had ever met (pretty good compliment considering the source).
So many artists covered his songs, including Bobby Darin, Bob Dylan, Bob Seeger, Joan Baez, Johnny Cash, The Four Tops, Robert Plant, to name a few. "Reason To Believe" was covered by many, including Rod Stewart who had a chart hit with the song.
Hardin dropped out of high school to join the Marine Corps where he discovered heroin while stationed in Southeast Asia. He struggled with addiction most of his life. His longtime friend, Ron Daniels, found him on the floor of his Hollywood apartment, dead from a heroin overdose. He was 39 years old.
So I played this a couple times last night and decided to go ahead and post it. Hope you like it.
