Trying Indian Food For The Very First Time | This Should Be Really Interesting

Today I'm going to be trying Indian food! I never had Indian food before so this should be really interesting! I will be reviewing the Lamb Vindaloo, Chicken Tikka Masala, Aloo Papri Chat, Malai Tikka, Chicken Tikka, and Lasooni Tikka!

All of these foods are from Monsoon, which is a local Indian restaurant here in South Jersey. I talked to Ray, the owner, about small businesses and what the market was like for his restaurant during COVID. He let me know that his hours are shortened so he only has a small window of opportunity during the day for cooking, preparing, and selling food, so it has been pretty tough. Ray was gracious enough to let me into the kitchen. I've never seen so many spices and smelled so many smells in one area before! He showed me the clay oven that is used to bake the naan and to cook the kebabs too!

The first thing I taste in the review is the Chicken Tikka Masala. It had a like a red spicy sauce that was really creamy and sweet. And not it's not like hot spicy like a jalepneo. I mean it has spices - red kinds apparently. It came with white basmati rice and I also got a plain naan to pair everything up with.

Next were the chicken kebabs (Malai Tikka, Chicken Tikka, Lasooni Tikka) and the Aloo Papri Chat. The chicken kebabs are barbecued but with different spices including saffron, garlic, and some spices that I couldn't make out. The Aloo papri chat had some crispy things with potatoes, chick peas, onions and tomatoes, and some sauces and spices. Sorry but I lost the footage for the kebab review!

I ended the review with the last dish: Lamb Vindaloo. This dish was pretty intense to put it lightly. It had a very hot and spicy 'Goan' sauce that was deep dark brown color. Not sure what it was made of but I can tell the sauce took a long time to cook because of the intense flavors I was getting from it.

My first time eating Indian food was a great experience! Eating food is always fun but to meet great people in the process is even better.
