Russia: 12 injured in Volgograd petrol station explosion

At least 12 people were injured in an explosion at a petrol station in Volgograd on Monday.

Video filmed by an eyewitness shows a large fire ball and massive flames rising from the gas station, followed by thick, black smoke.

According to Russia's Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM), the fire was first reported at 12:40 p.m. local time ( 9:40 a.m. GMT). The cause of the blast remains unsolved, but the ministry believes the explosion occurred in the fuel tank.

The ministry also added that four EMERCOM employees were among the 12 injured. The fire has been since brought under control by the firefighters.
