Moong Masoor ki daal in 30 minutes | no pressure cooker | mixed lentils

Moong Masoor ki daal

Nothing beats the simple things in life, like Daal Roti or Daal Chawal.
As Nanima said, daal jerri nibhay naal.

Ingredients

1 cup | masoor daal (red lentils)
¼ cup | moong daal (yellow lentil)
5 cups | water
1 tsp | salt
1 tsp | red chili powder
½ tsp | sokha dhania (coriander powder)
½ tsp | haldi (turmeric)
1 Tbs | ginger garlic paste

Wash the daal.
No need to soak.
Add all the above ingredients and bring to boil on high heat.
Keep cooking on high heat for 5 minutes.
Then reduce the heat to medium low, cover and cook for half an hour.
I like to make my Rotis or white rice during this time.

Tarka ingredients

1/4 cup | ghee
9 cloves of garlic | thinly sliced lengthwise
1 Tbs | Zeera (cumin seeds)
2 | dry red chilli cut and remove seeds
1 | green chilli sliced

Heat the ghee.
Fry the sliced garlic, until golden, not brown
Add zeera(cumin), dry red chilli and green chilli.

Sprinkle ½ tsp garam masala and 1 tbs fresh coriander.
Pour the tarka over daal.

Best served with roti or white rice.
