Michael Matheson appears to smirk when his £11,000 iPad bill raised in parliament
AN SNP cabinet minister who racked up £11,000 of roaming charges while using a parly iPad on holiday has been accused of smirking when the spend was raised at Holyrood.
Health Secretary Michael Matheson - who has an annual salary of £118,000 - ran up the whopping bill during a week-long trip to the Morocco earlier this year.
Despite the spend being pinned on an apparent blunder by the MSP, the entire sum has been paid back by taxpayers.
And raising a point of order at the end of First Minister’s Questions today, Scottish Tory MSP Craig Hoy said the incident had “damaged the reputation” of the parliament as he urged Presiding Officer Alison Johnstone to take action.
But, Mr Matheson - who was sat on the frontbenches - appeared to smirk as Mr Hoy made the claim.
