Long Jump Technique - The Takeoff
If you want to jump farther you need to carry as much speed into the pit as possible. And in order to do that you have to have the correct foot and hip position at takeoff.
If your foot lands in front of your hips at the board you will reduce your speed and distance.
Why? Because when your foot lands in front of your hips at the board, it acts as a limiting factor that directly impedes your forward motion, making it difficult to maintain the optimal speed for a successful jump. As a result, your energy and momentum are dispersed, leading to a significant decrease in both your overall speed and the distance you can cover during the jump.
