Lot 135 - Continental, quarter repeater, 58mm, silver
Estimate: $400 - 700 USD

EPW - Unsigned Continental, fusee quarter-hour repeater, 58mm, silver OF original case with fancy rope twist band, gilt spring-loaded cuvette, white enamel dial, KWKS (a key is included as pictured and comes attached on a silver-plated chain), likely a verge escapement though not disassembled to confirm, gilt mvt with pierced and engraved foliate scrolled two-footed balance bridge, s#7470 within case.

CONDITION: Mvt: NR, fully wound, balance wheel does not swing freely, setting can be somewhat challenging as key must be pushed down while turning and minute occasionally gets stuck on hour hand, good repeat function aside from sluggishness to final strikes, repeat tone is somewhat "tinny," overhaul needed, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, scattered fine to micro-fine scratches, oxide to steelwork; dial with grouping of scratches and flakes to center, few scattered faint hls, edge chip at 4; poor hands are covered completely in oxide; case shows light wear, scuffing to rear and cuvette, no dents or dings; bow pivots freely; good glass crystal.
