Lot 114 - Cha's A Montandon, minute repeater, 49mm

EPW - Cha's A. Montandon, Locle, minute repeater, 49mm, gold-filled OF recase, silvered dial with patterned center, SW-pin-set, fully capped lever escapement, likely 26-32J, fausses-côtes pattern nickel damascene, s#19923. Comes with a mottled brown velvet Geo. S. Dales & Co. jeweler's box within a black velvet outer box.

CONDITION: Mvt: Running, good repeat function aside from slide sticking slightly, good repeat tone aside from a greater than average buzzing sound during operation, fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, toning and many scattered fine to micro-fine scratches and tiny dark spots to plates, few speck of oxide to steelwork; excellent dial with few scattered fine surface scratches, minor darkening to edges; excellent hands; case with some modifications to fit slide and setting pin, bezel does not sit flush when closed leaving a very thin gap, case shows medium wear, scuffing along bezel, circular gouge within rear, no dents or dings, reduced engraving detail with areas of full loss, inner rear is worn entirely to brass; tight bow with brassy underside, crown shows medium wear; glass crystal with some tiny smoothed edge flakes, excess glue around crystal on case bezel. Outer box in nearly mint condition, hinge is just slightly loose allowing lid to open slightly if picked up by lid; inner box in fine condition, interior with some tearing and stains to lid liner, bottom with some mild surface dirtiness.
