I'll Tumble 4 Ya! (2021) Mr. David's ''Chew Knead Moore'' Mix BOY GEORGE

Boy George RE-recorded "I'll Tumble 4 Ya!" last year during lockdown, as well as "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me". Other hits were recorded at the same time, like a reggae version of "Victims" that have yet to be released but hopefully will be one day soon. I decided to make an extended version of Tumble, because it was the better of the two remakes (and the first Culture Club song to ever catch my attention!) and was pleased with the results. I hope you will be, too.

The original “I'll Tumble 4 Ya!” was the third Culture Club single released in the United States. It was released in April, 1983, and was the historic final single from "Kissing To Be Clever", achieving what no other band since the Beatles had done: 3 top ten singles from an American debut album. That record was broken by Cyndi Lauper the very next year.

The song was a upbeat, calypso-inspired pop song that Boy George has described as just silly. He claims to have forgotten the meaning of the lyrics, but close inspection of them and referencing interviews from the time reveal it's simply a song about wanting to sign a record deal, disguised as a love song. George's willingness to sign a deal at the time he wrote the song was so great, he was willing to try anything to get noticed, even tumble ("fail"). That need is easily represented by the same feelings you have when you're desperately trying to attract the attention of someone you love.
