She was born as Kiesa Rae Ellastad in Calgary, Alberta Canada. Her music career took off after the video of her "Hideaway" went viral in 2014 and helped her to the biggest success, with a debut at #1 in the UK Singles Chart. It also charted in Canada (peak #5), Germany (also peak #5), Belgium and the Netherlands (both #1) as well as the USA Hot 100. Kiesza released her debut album Sound Of A Woman in the same year and reached charts across Europe, Canada and the USA.

In 2017 Kiesza was involved in a bad car crash that caused her traumatic brain injury and forced her in a darkened room for 6 months. In 2019 she returned to the music scene and in 2020 released her 2nd studio album Crave.

She also has released a total of 4 EPs so far with the next one to be announced for release at the end of May 2024.
