TOP TEN: The Best Songs Of The Rasmus

Competing for Finland at this year's Eurovision Song Contest is the group 'The Rasmus'. Originally they were formed in 1994 when Lauri Ylönen (vocals), Eero Heinonen (bass), Pauli Rantasalmi (guitar) and Jarno Lahti (drums) still were in 8th grade in Helsinki. Lahti left the group one year later and was first replaced by Janne Heiskanen and in the early 2000s by Aki Hakala.

Their first album 'Peep' was released in 1996, their first single 'Blue' in 1997. Both charted in Finland in the album/single charts. In the 90s the band released 2 mors studio albums: First in 1997 'Playboys' and in 1998 'Hell of a Tester'. In 2001 the band released their 4th studio album 'Into' which became their first #1 album in Finland, including the #1 singles 'F-F-F-Falling' and 'Heartbreaker/Days' both in their homecountry. Their international breakthrough came in 2003 with their 5th studio album 'Dead Letters' and the single 'In The Shadows'. The album topped the charts in Finland, Germany, Austria and Switzerland while the single also topped the charts in Germany and Finland.

In 2005 the band released their next studio album 'Hide From The Sun' which topped the charts in Finland and reached Top 5 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In 2008 'Black Roses' was released and became the band's 4th and so far final #1 album in their homecountry. 2 more albums were released in the 2010s: The self-titled album in 2012 and 'Dark Matters' in 2017. This week they will represent their homecountry with the song 'Jezebel' at the 66th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in Turin, Italy.
