How do you say niece in Italian? - Nipote!
How do you say Nephew? - Nipote!
What about granddaughter? - Nipote!
And grandson? - Nipote!

So, how do you tell the difference?

Il nipote = nephew
La nipote = niece

To help make a distinction many Italians will use the form nipotino (grandson) and nipotina (granddaughter). This -ino/a suffix literally means little or small.
