Union Depot Train Days 2023

Made a visit to Union Depot in Saint Paul, Minnesota to their annual "Train Days" event, which has been an annual thing since the depot reopened to rail service in 2014. Haven't missed a "Train Days" yet, though most years have been still photos only. This year was a good occasion to take some handheld video clips of the equipment of Train Days.

Railroading Heritage of Midwest America, Lake Superior Railroad Museum, Twin Cities & Western Railroad, and Canadian Pacific Kansas City Ltd. (CPKC) were in attendance this year.

This year, train days featured:
Milwaukee Road 261 (2nd appearance, 2016, 2023)
Milwaukee Road 32A (4th appearance, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023)
Great Northern 192 (1st appearance)
Twin Cities & Western 2020 (2nd appearance)
Kansas City Southern 5000 (CPKC)
Canadian Pacific 8074 (CPKC)
Milwaukee Road (Frisco) Caritas
Milwaukee Road (UP) 2450
Milwaukee Road Superdome 53
Milwaukee Road Cedar Rapids

Also, a few stats and facts about the depot and train days are included.

We're also treated to the departure of Amtrak's eastbound Empire Builder to Chicago with a friendly crew, and MetroTransit's westbound Green Line to Minneapolis. Listen carefully during Amtrak's departure and you might just hear the whistle of 261.

As you can see, it's a popular event with lots of people and has grown exponentially since the first one 10 years ago.
