Grant Hill Puts Allan Houston in the Blender (1997)

December 18, 1996 - Arguably the peak of his run in Detroit, Grant Hill finished with 17 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists, and 5 steals in a 112-78 win over the New York Knicks, pushing the Pistons to a 19-4. The move shown above is of particular note as it occurred during Allan Houston's contentious homecoming; it was his first trip to the Palace since spurning the Pistons for the New York Knicks the previous offseason.

The 1996-97 Pistons remained a half-step behind the defending champion Chicago Bulls until Christmas and pushed their record to 43-14 before turmoil within the organization led to a tailspin down the stretch. Standing tall with the East's second best record for most of the regular season, the Pistons settled for 54 wins and a No. 5 seed, falling in the first round to Dikembe Mutombo and the Atlanta Hawks.

This game also stands as the only time in Detroit Pistons history (as of 2020) that the team has worn Ft. Wayne throwback jerseys (commemorating the NBA at 50).
