The Other Men That LOVED Elizabeth I

Queen Elizabeth I is known as the virgin queen, and it’s believed that she never had a lover throughout her reign as Queen of England. This has been debated, and the Queen was incredibly close with one man, Robert Dudley who was the Earl of Leicester. Many historians have claimed that she and Dudley were intimate and the pair would exhibit their relationship to the court on a daily basis. But as much as Elizabeth I loved Robert Dudley, the couple would never marry and they would never have a child meaning that Elizabeth was the last Tudor Monarch. With her the Tudor line of Kings and Queens died out, but throughout her reign there were a number of men who tried to court and charm Elizabeth and become her husband. Even her former brother in law Philip II sought to marry Elizabeth but he was married to her sister Mary I, and he did this to try and seize power in England. Elizabeth stated that she was married to her country, but much is known about her relationship with Dudley, but who were these other men that sought to catch the eye of the Queen?
