Verstappen Disappointed By The FIA Changing Regulations For “One Team”

The FIA has announced their intentions to make changes to address the porpoising of the 2022 cars. This hasn’t been welcomed by everyone including the folks at Red Bull who seem to be one of the least affected by the bouncing. Red Bull driver Max Verstappen has suggested that all this is being done just for one team while speaking to Racer

Verstappen Disappointed By The FIA Changing Regulations For “One Team”

Max started off by explaining why the technical directive is disappointing

"I think it's a bit disappointing that again there is a rule change mid-season, I would say”

He expanded on how it is just about one team

"It's not even about affecting us more or less than other teams, but it shouldn't be that one team is complaining a lot and suddenly then they change the regs around it”

"I think there are a lot of teams that actually did an amazing job to not have these kinds of issues, so it is possible to drive around it”

He suggested that a team’s inability to cope with the regulations should not be seen as the fault of the regulations

"If you raise your car then you won't have these issues, but you lose performance”

"But if you can't design the car properly for that then that's your fault, it's not the regs' fault. For me that is a bit of a shame"

He signed off by reiterating that it is a shame to change the regulations mid-season

“Of course, every track is different, too, but I think it's a bit of a shame to change it mid-season and clearly teams have shown you can drive normally, or at least with a lot less issues than some other teams”

Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko feels that it is “complete nonsense!” [Kleine Zeitung]

“Just because a team can't cope with the changes doesn't mean you change the regulations”
Is it wrong to change the regulations mid-season?
