Angel's Landing in Winter: What to Expect Hiking in Zion

Zion National Park is gorgeous, but crowded most of the year. Winter is a great time to visit, and your chances of securing a permit to hike Angel's Landing in the winter months is much higher.

Crowds at Zion drop from around 500,000 people a month in the summer, to between 100,000 and 200,000 during the winter months.
It means: fewer people will be applying for the daily permits to hike Angel's Landing (one of the park's most famous hikes).

Zion sees a bit of snowfall each winter, but most days temperatures rise above freezing.

Entry to Zion National Park is $35 per car. In the winter, you'll be able to drive through the scenic canyon on your own. Most of the year, you'll have to park in Springdale, Utah and take the shuttle.
