Move Your Stocks from Robinhood to THIS APP

Public is the clean, simple and social investing app. So, I’ve been using the Public Stock app for about a year now and, obviously, have been quite happy with it. The reason I'm using Public is just to build a buy-and-hold stock portfolio to supplement my retirement accounts and eventually build a dividend income stream.

In this video I’m going to:
1. Go over some of the basic features of public
2. Review some of the new features that really have made public a standout investing app
3. Why you should move your portfolio from robinhood to public

Existing features that have made Public the best app out there:
1. Fee-free investing - you don't pay a dime on any transaction
2. Fractional shares (a leader in fractional shares, way before robinhood)
3. Social stock investing - private msging and group chats so you can keep in touch with all your stock friends.
4. Warnings for risky stocks

New Features:
1. Linking with Plaid (used to use the microdeposits to validate banking)
2. Tipping (replaces payment for order flow - PFOF) - interesting monetization strategy, idk how it will work out
3. Stock data display toggle (not new)
4. Homescreen widget

Upcoming new feature! Public team is working on a recurring deposits feature and a recurring investments feature, however, they do not have a timeline yet. Say you want to invest $100 into Tesla every month. This feature will allow you to do that. Currently it can only be done manually. My guess is that they will get that up in the next 6 months. Very important feature and I think it will make public and even better app!

Why you should transfer your brokerage from robinhood to public???
1. Simple and easy app (probably by far the simplest)
2. Free transfers (aka the transfer fees are covered, even if they are charged by robinhood)
3. No tax implications, because you aren't selling your stocks, you are just transferring them

However, there are some considerations:
1. If you like trading options, You cannot do that on Public. Public is purely a buy and hold stock brokerage.
2. If you do transfer your portfolio from robinhood and you do have options, you options just won't be transferred and will be stuck on Robinhood
