Show You How (Guitar) - The Killers - Sawdust

Guitar is in standard tuning.

Show you how appeared on the Sawdust compilation album, but was never performed live.

The song has keyboard and bass throughout most of it, but Dave Keuning’s guitar is really just playing instrumental sections.

The guitar part fades in (and cleans up at the end of the song), so I used an Ernie Ball volume pedal where appropriate.

The main riff part of the song, consisting of single notes and some dyads is relatively straightforward.

The parts I’m not totally sure about are the tremolo picked sections played on the E and B strings. I think I’m playing the correct notes, but it’s difficult to tell whether it’s tremolo picked throughout, listening to the original audio - possibly not, but it sounded better for my cover.

Guitar-wise, I’m not sure which guitar Dave used in the studio, but the only guitar he used in standard tuning live during the Hot Fuss period, was his Cherry Gibson ES-335 Dot.

Therefore, I used a 2004 Cherry Gibson ES-335 Dot.

It sounds like it may be played on the neck pick up, but I didn’t like that tone for the tremolo picked part. Doing the song in one take, I used the bridge pick up throughout, with tone down to about 6.

I found it difficult to make the track sound quite the same as the studio recording, which I suspect was played very loud with the guitar ‘warbling’ on certain notes.

I used a thickish sounding overdrive and delay - I worked out the delay settings from that final slide at the end of the song.
